My work is grounded, trauma-informed, and emotionally attuned. Above all, I aim to help people feel emotionally held, deeply understood, and supported by an intelligent, life-experienced professional therapist.
A Life-Experienced Path to Becoming an IFS Therapist
Long before formally training in Internal Family Systems therapy, I was shaped by lived experience. I grew up in a family and community deeply impacted by war, intergenerational trauma, and biological mental health challenges that were never fully recognized or named. Strength and survival were emphasized; emotional processing was often left unspoken.
My decision to become a therapist became clear later in life after experiencing severe workplace bullying. Seeking therapy myself was transformative—not only in healing, but in realizing I could offer others something essential: a steady, emotionally intelligent, and deeply attuned therapeutic presence.
While I am not an addict, I have close lived experience with addiction in loved ones. This informs my work with individuals and couples navigating trauma, loyalty conflicts, relational burnout, and the long-term impact of living alongside addiction.
Why I Practice Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)
I specialize in Internal Family Systems therapy because it is one of the most effective bottom-up, trauma-informed approaches available.
Many clients seeking an IFS therapist in Toronto, Monsey, Brooklyn, or Lakewood come after discovering that cognitive or skills-based therapies such as CBT or DBT help them understand their struggles—but do not shift how they feel when emotions are intense. In moments of activation, people may logically know they are safe, yet still not feel safe.
As an IFS therapist, I work directly with emotional parts through connection, attunement, and emotional holding. Rather than reframing the past intellectually, we help traumatized parts feel supported and no longer alone. This allows the nervous system to reorganize and the emotional charge of the past to soften—often described as memory reconsolidation.
I believe in IFS because I see it work. Experiences that once felt overwhelming often become neutral or manageable. Clients frequently report that situations that once dominated their emotional lives now feel like mild annoyances they can easily move through.
IFS is also the most honest form of therapy I know. Healing comes from the client’s own inner system—not from the therapist’s interpretations, corrections, or biases. The work is guided from within, making therapy deeply personal, respectful, and tailored to each individual.
Who I Work With
I work especially well with individuals and couples who are:
-
Growth-oriented and reflective
-
Successful in many areas of life but emotionally or relationally stuck
-
Impacted by trauma, intergenerational patterns, or addiction in close relationships
-
Looking for an IFS therapist in Toronto or an IFS therapist near Monsey, Brooklyn, or Lakewood
-
Seeking depth rather than surface-level coping strategies
As long as someone wants to grow, IFS therapy can help.
As a male therapist, I am also familiar with the social pressures, expectations, and judgments many men experience. Clients often appreciate working with an IFS therapist who understands these dynamics without minimizing them.
Parenting, Trauma & Intergenerational Healing
Being a parent has deepened my understanding of emotional complexity. Children bring their own personalities and biology, while parents carry their own histories, fears, and hopes—along with concerns about repeating painful family patterns.
As a child of Holocaust survivors, I bring deep sensitivity to trauma and its long-term impact. People can be resilient, high-functioning, and successful while still carrying deeply traumatized parts. In my work as an IFS therapist in Toronto, Monsey, Brooklyn, and Lakewood, there is no judgment—only respect for the systems that allowed someone to survive.
In IFS therapy, slower is often faster.
What Healing Looks Like
Healing is not about fixing what is broken.
It is about becoming more fully the person you want to be.
Clients often notice:
-
Greater emotional regulation and calm
-
More satisfying relationships
-
Increased confidence and self-trust
-
Less reactivity and more choice
My practice offers Internal Family Systems therapy in Toronto (in-person) and virtual IFS therapy in a flexible, responsive, and deeply human way.
